FAQ
How do you calculate a tip?
Multiply the bill by the tip percentage. For a 15% tip on 50: 50 x 0.15 = 7.50, so the total
is 57.50.
What is a normal tip percentage?
In the US, 15–20% of the bill is common for table service. Norms vary by country and service, so adjust to your local custom.
How do you split a bill with the tip included?
Add the tip to the bill, then divide by the number of people. A 72 total split 4 ways is
72 / 4 = 18 each.
Should I tip on the pre-tax or post-tax amount?
Both are common. Tipping on the pre-tax amount is slightly lower; many people tip on the total for simplicity.
