A Few Worked Examples

Problem 1: do multiplication first — $3 + (4 \times 2) = 3 + 8 = 11$.

Problem 16: exponent first, then multiply, then subtract — $2 \times 3^2 - 5 = 2 \times 9 - 5 = 18 - 5 = 13$.

Problem 20: parentheses, then exponent, then divide — $100 \div (2 + 3)^2 = 100 \div 25 = 4$.
