Each puzzle shows a sequence of numbers that follows one rule. Work out the rule and type the next number. There are 10 questions, and the rule is explained after each answer.
Results
A sequence of numbers usually hides a simple rule - add the same amount, double each time, or square the counting numbers. This quiz shows you a sequence with the last number missing and asks you to find it. Each puzzle has exactly one rule, and the rule is explained after you answer, so you learn the patterns as you play.
How to Play
- Press Start. You see a sequence like
2, 4, 6, 8, ?. - Work out the rule and type the next number.
- After each answer the rule is shown. There are ten questions, and your score is saved so you can beat it next time.
Patterns You Will See
- Add or subtract the same amount - 3, 7, 11, 15, … (add 4).
- Multiply each time - 2, 6, 18, 54, … (times 3).
- Square numbers - 1, 4, 9, 16, … (1², 2², 3², 4²).
- Growing gaps - 1, 3, 6, 10, … (the jump grows by one each time).
- Sum of the previous two - 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, … .
