A Few Worked Examples

Problem 11: exponent first, then multiply, then add - $3 + 4 \times 4 = 3 + 16 = 19$.

Problem 17: 20% off means you pay 80% - $40 × 0.80 = $32.

Problem 20: 12 dogs is 3 parts, so 1 part is 4, and cats are 2 parts - $2 \times 4 = 8$.
