A Few Worked Examples

Problem 5: rounding 350 to the nearest hundred — the tens digit is 5, so round up to 400.

Problem 11: 12.5 to the nearest whole number — the deciding digit is 5, so round up to 13.

Problem 16: 0.05 to the nearest tenth — the hundredths digit is 5, so round up to 0.1.
